Academic Excellence

The Academic Excellence Program seeks to uphold the NSBE mission by providing our members with the tools they need to excel academically.

Community Service

The Community Service Committee upholds one of the three pillars of the mission of NSBE and is committed to making a valuable contribution to the community at large through collaboration and execution of service events. The committee is also responsible for ensuring that there is active and consistent general body participation.

Pre-College Initiative (PCI)

The Pre-College Initiative program aims to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields while creating a pipeline of academic success for students in grades K-12 to attend college.

ACT Pro

The ACT Pro program targets low achieving underrepresented minority high school students in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas and provides ACT preparatory skills from Kaplan as well as mentoring and college preparatory skills from NSBE members.

Academic Success Program (ASP)

The Academic Success Program (ASP) is the National Society of Black Engineers' effort to increase the scholastic achievement of middle school students and create a pipeline of students who value academic success by providing afterschool tutoring and mentoring.

NSBE Junior

NSBE Junior strives to stimulate student interest in technical fields such as science, mathematics, and engineering. In response to the lack of African Americans pursuing degrees in engineering and science, we serve as a source to encourage students to attend college and pursue technical degrees.

To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

Programs are implemented through our various committees, each focusing on a main aspect of the mission statement. There are many exciting changes in the works. The success of NSBE's programs rests on the shoulders of the members, so be proactive and join a committee today!
